Our Vision

The Astoria Betterment Fund, through the promotion of philanthropy,
the strategic deployment of resources, and the cultivation of
collaborative partnerships will be a sustaining force for
enhancing the quality of life in Astoria.

DONATING
To the Astoria Betterment Fund is a simple process. You can simply make a donation in any amount at any time or for larger gifts, we suggest to begin by reviewing your financial plan with your family attorney or financial advisor to learn how a charitable gift could work for you. After discussing your charitable interests, contact the Astoria Betterment Fund to set up an initial meeting to let us know about your gift and how you would plan to transfer your assets. Your assets will be placed in a permanent endowment that is invested to grow over time.

~ PERMANENCE ~
As living memorials, funds at the Schuyler County Community Foundation carry out your charitable interests in perpetuity. A committee of local people will always be able to direct funds where they are needed as future needs arise.

~ TAX ADVANTAGES ~
Since the Fund is established through the SCCF, which is a public charity, not a private foundation, all donations qualify for the maximum available deduction for charitable contributions. The funds also avoid the excise taxes and other restrictions placed on private foundations.

~ CHARITABLE IMPACT ~
We understand the needs and roles of qualified organizations so we can target grants where they do the most good. By operating as a fund of the SCCF, which can pool contributions for administration and investment purposes, we incur lower management costs than a private foundation. More of your money goes to charity, rather than to overhead.
